Alex brings a wealth of experience both on and off the pitch. An experienced scrum half, he’s played for York RUFC and Thirsk, and has competed at Elite-level 7s. Known for his leadership, vision, and game management, Alex is ready to make a real impact at Ripon.
“I feel I can bring some additional leadership, vision and game management to this team — especially as a scrum half. I’ve been in and around senior leadership groups for years and feel I have a good understanding of what it takes to succeed.”
Alex’s coaching journey began with the junior section at York, and he’s recently served as Co-Head Coach of the University of York Women’s Team, leading them to a historic Varsity win over Lancaster. His coaching style focuses on doing the basics brilliantly and building a strong, team-first culture.
“Rugby can be a simple game if you get all the basics right. My aim is to help players be the best they can at the things that don’t require any skill — effort, attitude, work rate.”
He’s excited to join the Ripon family and help push the club forward.
Let’s give Alex a warm welcome and show him what Ripon spirit is all about!
